RENO — A Nevada man has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the 2019 killing of an woman at a hotel and casino in Reno.

Tevin Raeshaun Johnson, 23, was sentenced Tuesday after pleading guilty in November to first-degree murder in the death of Amber Morris, 37, of Ross, Ohio, the Washoe County District Attorney's Office said.

Morris' body was found near the door of her hotel room at Circus Circus Reno on July 19, 2019, authorities said. An autopsy revealed she was strangled and stomped on, causing bleeding in her brain.

The District Attorney's Office said Johnson had briefly met Morris and her sister and that he later went alone to her room.

The office said an autopsy concluded that Morris was killed from blunt force trauma head and her DNA was found on shoes that Johnson took off and left in an elevator before fleeing.
