Macau And Las Vegas Gaming Revenues Are Headed In Opposite Directions: What's Next?

Both Las Vegas and Macau took big hits during the COVID-19 pandemic. Vegas is recovering well, while Macao is still struggling.

Macau's gross gaming revenue is still 70% below 2019 levels. Las Vegas GGR is up 30% from pre-pandemic 2019. MGM Resorts International and Caesars Entertainment Inc are expected to grow their Gresrs in the fourth quarter of 2019, but Macau GRS will be down 60% compared to 2019 figures.

10 casino junket officials were recently arrested in Macau. The development is more of a crackdown risk than the concession process from September.

Kelley recommends U.S. stocks with less risk to Macau as a place to invest in gaming stocks.

Macau and Las Vegas are losing money.
