Casino City’s Friday Five: Las Vegas arrests and retirement edition

Musa was arrested on the Las Vegas Strip after fleeing from casino security. He was placed on a list of people banned from the state's gaming establishments. Las Las Vites welcomed nearly 3.5 million visitors in July. The city hosted 307,000 convention attendees. Overall hotel occupancy in LasVites surpassed 83% in the month of July, four percentage points ahead of 2021. Circa Sports opened its first casino in northern Nevada in over 20 years on Tuesday. The 80,00 square foot gaming and dining destination features over 650 slot and video poker machines, a high-limit slot room, 10 live table games, and a Circasports Sportsbook.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is searching for a man suspected of stealing casino chips on several occasions. The thefts occurred at a casino in the 2000 block of South Las Vegas Boulevard on five separate occasions dating back to November 2021. In every theft one Black male can be seen on tape entering a Casino and grabbing chips from a table game and fleeing.

I-Team: Video shows moments before manager's murder outside Las Vegas Dotty's

Alicia Gibellina, 60, was killed outside Las Vegas Dotty's. A man in his 20s stole a customer's purse and then stole the manager's car. He shot Gibelina with a gun and ran her over. The car involved was stolen. The business shared the video with the I-Team in hopes of finding the driver. Las Vegas Police Officer Indicted For Three Casino Robberies

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officer Caleb Mitchell Rogers was indicted for three casino robberies. Rogers stole approximately $164,000 in total. He will stand trial on May 23, 2022. The maximum penalty is 20 years in prison for each count of interference with commerce by robbery and life imprisonment for brandishing a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence. The case was investigated by the FBI and the LVMPD. It is merely an allegation. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

Las Vegas Police Officer Charged In Casino Robbery

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officer Caleb Mitchell Rogers, 33, was arrested on February 27, 2022. He is charged with robbery and brandishing a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 24, 2020. Rogers is accused of robbing two casinos in Las Vegas. The maximum penalty for the first robbery is 20 years in prison. For the second robbery, Rogers was charged for $11,500. The case was investigated by the FBI and the LVMPD.

Nathan Hobbs was arrested on a misdemeanor DUI charge Monday morning. He was found in a hotel parking garage at 4 a.m. in his black Mercedes SUV. HobBS was drunk and had a "slight odor" of alcohol. The player was expected to play Sunday versus the Chargers. He will appear in court on May 3. "It's a legal matter and other than that, I have nothing else and we'll leave it at that," says coach Rich Bisaccia.

Man arrested in deadly stabbing at Rio Hotel & Casino

Nicholas Dove, 27, was arrested last Friday and booked at Clark County Detention Center for the stabbing and murder of 38-year-old Carlos Polanco Garcia. The two men were involved in a drug-related fight that led to the fatal stabbing. Polano Garcia was found with stab wounds in the room at the 3700 block of Flamingo on Dec. 3. Dove has been booked for open murder with a deadly weapon and battery with the use of a weapon resulting in substantial bodily harm.

Casino security team credited with swiftly corralling gunman

The security team at the Santa Fe Station casino corralled a gunman and detained him. The man shot a guard, but no one else was hurt. The casino is still open and operating. Hospitality security expert Adam Coughran says the quick action by the security guards was huge. He says casinos invest in good security to give visitors confidence about their safety. They get more training than other security guard. It's to keep people who are visiting Las Vegas safe.

Suspicious item closes Fashion Show Drive near Las Vegas Strip

A suspicious person entered the Trump International Hotel at 2000 Fashion Show Dr. and dropped a suitcase and duffle bag near the concierge. He yelled that there was a bomb in the building and people should get out. The man left the property and got into a taxi. 15 minutes later the hotel received 2 bomb threats over the phone. Fashion show Drive was closed between Sammy Davis Jr. Drive and Las Vegas Boulevard during the investigation. A man was arrested in connection to the threat.

Las Vegas police investigate 1 dead after fight at Laughlin casino

A fight broke out inside Aquarius Casino in Laughlin, Nevada, early Friday morning. One man was knocked unconscious and died at the hospital. The investigation is ongoing. The identity of the victim and details of his death will be released by the Clark County Coroner's Office pending routine notification of next of kin.
