A lucky Limerick player has become Ireland's newest millionaire after scooping a whopping €1 million in the National Lottery.

The winning ticket – number 6605 – represents a life-changing New Year's present for the Treaty County punter.

And three other ticketholders – from Cavan, Kilkenny and Louth – will also ring in the new year in some style, having won €100,000 each in the Millionaire Raffle.

While the million-euro store has not yet been identified, we do have exact locations for the three hundred-grand ticket sales.

Tarpey’s SuperValu in Cavan (ticket number 156201), Crehan & McCabe SuperValu in Kilkenny (ticket number 461380), and Central News in Louth (ticket number 115438) will all be celebrating this morning after they were confirmed as the sites of major windfalls for a trio of lotto hopefuls.

In total, 6,009 players won prizes of between €500 and €1 million in last night’s draw, and the National Lottery has today urged people to check their raffle numbers to see if they're in luck.

A spokesperson for the National Lottery said: "We are calling on all our players who purchased a Millionaire Raffle ticket for last night’s New Year’s Eve draw, either in-store or online to check their tickets carefully to see if they are Ireland’s newest millionaire or indeed to see if they have won one of the other 6,008 cash prizes.

"If you are one of the big winners of the New Year’s Eve draw, sign the back of the winning ticket and get in touch with the National Lottery claims team on 1800 666 222 or email claims@lottery.ie and arrangements will be made for the prize to be paid."

Today's win comes after a remarkable €11 million lotto win in Co Cork just last month.

The win was officially the 20th-biggest prize win in the history of the National Lottery.
