Loto-Québec has requested help from the police department and federal lawmakers in its fight against illegal online gambling sites. The Crown corporation's new President and CEO Jean-François Bergeron spoke before an audience at the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal.

The President and CEO of Loto-Québec believes the federal government and public security must do more to fight illegal online gambling websites. He also believes that the Crown needs to simplify its process of accepting newly-registered users online. Single-event wagering was legalized on August 27, 2021. The President believes sports teams and TV channels should be more careful about promoting illegal websites and should consider reputational risks.

Martin Raymond, a computer analyst from Terrebonne, was working at an online gaming center and was found guilty of taking advantage of his position. He was charged with several criminal offenses.

Loto-Québec will not require its employees to get vaccinated for illegal online gambling. Mr. Bergeron does not think many employers have the tools to implement such passports for immunization.
