Those wanting to try their hand as a table games dealer will have an opportunity to do so later this month.

Live! Casino is hosting a free dealer school where students will learn about blackjack and carnival games throughout a six week course. Those who successfully complete the course will be eligible to interview for a job with Live! Casino Pittsburgh, which opened in Westmoreland Mall in November.

“Events like the table games dealer school are a key part of our ability to attract talented individuals within the community to joint the Live! Casino team,” Sean Sullivan, general manger, said in a news release.

Classes will take place at the Live! Casino Dealer School that opened in the former Sears wing of the mall last year starting April 19. The school originally held dealer classes in conjunction with Westmoreland County Community College prior to the casino’s opening.

Those classes, which admitted 120 students, began with a five-week course on blackjack and carnival games. After that students could choose to purse three additional training tracks — craps, roulette or carnival games. Of those admitted, between 60 and 70 were expected to be hired at the Hempfield facility.

Classes will be held Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Students can choose either the morning or evening session.

“Interested applicants do not need casino, gaming or dealer experience to register,” Sullivan said. “Our program prepares individuals with the skills they need to work in the gaming industry, and we’re offering it at no cost.”

Those interested can register at pittsburgh.livecasinohotel.com/DealerSchool. The final day to register is April 16.
