Las Vegas Casino Offering Paid Internship on Gaming Floor

A casino company is offering interns $15 an hour, free accommodation and the chance to work on the gaming floor of a Las Vegas casino.
Station Casinos, a family-owned casino and restaurant operator, is accepting applications for its 12 week, Summer 2022 Internship Program.
In what is the program's second year, interns will have the chance to work in different departments of the business, including social media, casino operations, finance and out on the gaming floor.
Applicants will be paired with mentors already working in the company and will complete a project that they'll then present to senior leaders at the end of the 12 weeks. In addition to their hourly wage, the company will cover their airfare and living costs and lay on weekly excursions in Las Vegas and the surrounding area.
Applicants must currently be enrolled as an undergraduate at a college or university, although anyone wanting to work in a position on the gaming floor must be over 21.
Once they've submitted their resume, applicants will be asked to complete a questionnaire. If they're accepted, they'll then have multiple stages of telephone and Zoominterviews.
"What we're looking for is interns that have curiosity — to learn more, to do more, to experience Las Vegas and to step outside of their comfort zone," Deborah Ferris, Vice President of Training for Station Casinos told Insider.
She said that applicants who can demonstrate ambition and passion for what they're currently doing at school will stand out. Out of 2,000 applicants last year, 11 made it onto the program, Ferris said.
One of those was Troy LeFevre, 24 who spent 12 weeks working in table games and operations at Station's Green Valley Ranch Casino during summer 2021.
He started working in food and beverage at casinos in his hometown of Toledo, Ohio when he was 18, and applied for the internship because it would give him the opportunity to take this further he said, something that had been an aspiration.
After graduating from Bowling Green State University — with a degree in international business and management, with a minor in Francophone studies — LeFevre has accepted the offer of a full time role with Station Casinos.
What does he think made his internship application successful?
"I just wanted to make it very clear that even though I'm in a gaming operations role, if they needed me to clean floors, or run a marketing giveaway, whatever they needed me to do, I'd happily do that," LeFevre told Insider.
