A bill updating Nebraska’s gaming regulations for horse racetrack casinos and the commission that governs them passed April 13. It passed on a 38-3 vote and took effect immediately. LB876 changes several provisions of the Nebraska Racetracks Gaming Act. It increases a number of penalties and raises the operator”s license fee from $1 million to $5 million. The bill also prohibits the issuing of new licenses until the Commission conducts a statewide horse racing market analysis, a study of a potential casino gaming market and a socioeconomic impact study.

A 45-year-old Lancaster woman was arrested at Valley Forge Casino Resort. She is accused of bringing a backpack with suspected drugs into the casino and leaving it behind at a slot machine.
