With Formula 1 continuing to amass new fans in the United States thanks to some help from Netflix, it is no surprise that the appetite for races in the country has grown. The 2021 USGP in Austin had F1's highest attendance ever, in any country, and now Miami is slated to join the schedule this May. Now it appears we have confirmation that F1 and the city of Las Vegas have finally come to terms on a deal for a third American race.

Nevada officials and Formula 1 have been in talks for several months. And while it has been assumed for some time now that a deal would eventually be reached, more details about the proposed plan have started to come to light. According to a recent report from Sports Business Journal, Sin City has been earmarked for a November 2023 weekend, with Front Office Sports adding that the event will take place around the American Thanksgiving holiday.

While we’re still waiting for the final word from the race organizers, some other evidence has surfaced in recent days. In fact, an electronic billboard atop the Cosmopolitan Casino was displaying the F1 logo as recently as last night (above). It is worth noting the casino has been rumored to be a landmark on the proposed course. F1 has also posted an announcement teaser on its social media platforms.

Fans of the sport may recall that Las Vegas has previously hosted F1 races, though we wouldn’t blame you if you pushed those events out of your mind. The race in Las Vegas ran from 1981 to 1984, and was called the Caesars Palace Grand Prix (pictured at top). Unfortunately for fans and racers alike, the entire track was constructed in the parking lot of the Casino. Not exactly as exciting as Monaco, folks. That said, rumors have persisted that this new Grand Prix will involve more of the city, including the strip itself. That would certainly help to make things more visually entertaining. Of course the crowd experience at a Las Vegas race should be worth the price of admission. You know it’s gonna be wild.
