The focus of players heading to the 2021 World Series of Poker is on tournament poker. Cash games are popular during the tournament. Las Vegas is the place to be if you are a cash game grinder. The number of poker players being in Las Las Vegans for the WSOP and the various tournament series' piggyback the series means card rooms are frequently packed to bursting.
There are many recreational players playing cash games during the WSOP. Many of them play $0.10-$0,25-$1.50 games at home and $1-$2-$3 games in Vegas. Las Vegas poker rooms are busy during this time.
Tournament players should not play cash games during the WSOP. Cash game players are used to playing deep-stacked, usually 100 big blinds deep. Tournament players rarely have this many chips. Some players excel in both cash and MTTs but they are a rarity. They are more used in conserving their stack and sometimes miss spots where they could extract value. They profit when their opponents make mistakes.
Cash games are an alternative to satellite tournaments during the WSOP. Grinding cash games for tournament buy-ins is not the most effective route into a larger buy in event, but it is a viable option. Cash games players tend to play for larger pots and are looser and more aggressive.
