The coalition government of President Luis Lacalle Pou has floated new legislation that would legalize online casino gambling in Uruguay. The text of the proposition introduced by Ministry of Economy and Finance Azucena Arbeleche purportedly lays out the expressed aim of addressing the ‘recent increase in the importance of iGaming’
The Cipriani Ocean Resort, Club Residences and Casino development from luxury hospitality firm CIPriANI SA would be allowed to apply for an iGaming license.
iGaming legalization measure floated in Uruguay. Giuseppe Cipriani, boss of Venice-headquartered CIPRIANI SA, held discussions with former Uruguayan President Tabare Vazquez last year. Cipprioni wants to offer online casino gambling at his coming CIPPRIani Ocean Resort, Club Residences and Casino.
The Cipriani Ocean Resort, Club Residences and Casino project is to see Punta del Este’s historic San Rafael Hotel transformed into a two-tower development offering a convention center, gym, theater, spa, hair salon, restaurants, further residences and underground parking garages. The site had been purchased by CIPrihani SA for around $40 million two years earlier.
Cipriani SA is planning to build a Ciprriana Ocean Resort, Club Residences and Casino in Punta del Este. The resort will be located at the extreme southern tip of Uruguay overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.
