A LUCKY Scot has walked away with a "one in two million" Vegas jackpot after only betting $15.

Peter Ferguson was on a getaway to Las Vegas when he made the life-changing bet, Edinburgh Live reports.

The Edinburgh local arrived in Sin City on Thursday April 7.

The next day the pair decided to take in the city's notorious gambling scene and found themselves in The Palazzo Casino.

As the pair entered the venue, the 46-year-old was tempted by Blackjack, but opted for Texas Hold 'Em.

Peter's friend played a few hands first before he joined the game.

Peter's first bet was $15, and the dealer dealt him a jack and ace of diamonds - when the community cards were a King, Queen and ten of diamonds.

Peter told Edinburgh Live: “So I put $15 in total down to play the bet. The community cards were a king, queen and a ten of diamonds.

“I thought I’ve got a straight, so will at least get my money back. This is amazing. But then I looked again and noticed it was a straight flush.

“My friend nudged me and went ‘mate, I think you have just won $280,000.

"I just went ‘oh my god’ as the dealer said to me ‘sir, you have just won $280,000."

The prize of $280,000 is approximately £214,000.

The lucky Scot was later told it was a "one in two MILLION" chance he would be dealt those cards as fellow gamblers flocked to see the jackpot-winning hand.

He told how the pair went through the two-and-a-half hour processes to be paid out in chips.

Security then walked them to a cage where Peter opted to collect his winnings by cheque.

Casino bosses then organised a Rolls Royce to take the pair back to their hotel.

Peter and his friend flew back to Scotland on Wednesday.

He told how his mum is "in complete shock" over the news of his winnings.

He has said he wants to use his winnings to take his husband, mum, dad, sister, brother in-law and their kids on a nice holiday.

Peter also said he would use it to pay off some of his mortgage.

He added: "I feel very humbled and lucky to have won this.”
