Hyderabad: ED raids on casino dealers for FEMA violations

The Enforcement Directorate on Wednesday morning conducted raids on casino dealers in eight locations in Hyderabad for Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) violations, TV9 Telugu reported.

The government agency raided and searched the residences, offices of local agents Praveen Chikoti and Madhav Reddy, who were allegedly organising high stakes gaming events in Nepal.

According to TV9 Telugu, ED is probing their casino operations at the Indo-Nepal border as agents used to allegedly arrange tickets on special flights, charged Rs.3 lakh from the customers and transport customers directly from Shamshabad Airport to Bagdogra Airport in West Bengal.

An event was held at 'All In' casino at Hotel Mechi Crown in Nepal between June 10 to June 13. The racket was run from Hyderabad, Vishakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Guntur and Nellore, TV9 Telugu reported. The gambling events were held in Indonesia's Phuket along with Nepal and the gamers played Teen Patti, Roulette, Baccarat while dancers were organized from Nepal and India and the winners were paid in the form of hawala transactions, ED found.
