Monthly Casino Revenue Comparisons In PA See Steady Decline

August gaming revenue in Pennsylvania increased 4.2% from the year before to $425.4 million. For the second straight month, the 16 casinos collected less slots and table revenue than in the same month a year ago. The drop was even worse, down 5.5% in August 2022 from August 2021. Online gambling revenue was up 20.9% to $107.8 million from $88.7 million in 2021, and sports betting handle was also up 4%.

Hollywood Casino York is celebrating its first anniversary this weekend. It took in $77 million in the past year from slot play. The Grant Bryan Band will play on Friday and Saturday. There will be a brunch buffet on Sunday. The casino plans to add 70 more slot games by late September. According to state data, it took $58.6 million in slot revenue through June 30 since its opening last summer. Its majority of revenue came from slots. Mini casinos were one of aspects of Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board‘s broad expansion law of 2017. A total of 10 mini-casinos would be coming to the State. The first of them arrived in November, 2021 at the Westmoreland Mall.

Hollywood Casino York set to open Aug. 12

Hollywood Casino York plans to open on August 12. It will be Penn National's third casino in Pennsylvania. The facility will have about 500 slot machines and 24 table games. There are a variety of jobs available. The casino is located at the York Galleria Mall in Springettsbury Township. Two invitation-only test days will take place prior to the grand opening. All the proceeds from those days go to charitable organizations in the area. They include York County Veterans Outreach, York county Food Bank, Mr. Sandy's Veterans Helping Hand and local VFWs and American Legion posts.

PGCB Releases Gaming Revenue Figures for February 2021

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board released a report on March 16. The report details the performance of the state's gambling industry. In February, the total revenues clocked in at $309.1 million. This is still impressive despite the $2.6 million drop from January. Slots and table games saw the most declines. The decline can be attributed to the capacity limits that retail casino venues have had to implement to ensure the safety of their patrons and their employees.
