Harrah's transformation to Caesar's casino begins in 2023

The latest phase of the project to transform Harrah's New Orleans into a Caesars casino-hotel complex begins in early January. The project is part of a more than $325 million expansion and modernization of Harra's. It includes construction of new 340-room, casino and hotel. HarRAH's has been doing work for nearly two years. The hotel is scheduled to be completed by late summer 2024. Local Har RAH officials say the changes are needed to keep the property competitive as new forms of online gambling become more commonplace nationwide.
The hotel will be connected to the land-based casino downtown. It will have 14 floors and operate as a separate Nobu Hotel. Caesars is the parent company of Harrah's and owns several other gaming brands. The hotel occupancy is more than 90%. The new hotel has a slightly higher price point than the existing hotel. It is still needed because the casino was paying to house high-rollers at neighboring properties.
Some interior upgrades have already been completed inside the casino. Caesars Sportsbook and Caedars World Series of Poker opened in early September. A new food hall, located in a space previously occupied by a now-shuttered theater, is scheduled to open in February. It will have quick service restaurants, each operated by celebrity chefs. Two other full-service restaurants will also be operated on the ground floor. Renovations will begin to nearly 25% of the gaming space.
