Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Bristol opened as Virginia’s first casino earlier this year. Hard Rock Resorts announced last week that they will finally break ground on the permanent casino this Wednesday, December 7th.

Permanent Bristol Casino finally broke ground on Wednesday. The construction of the permanent casino will begin in November. It will boast 100,000 square feet of gaming area, 2,700 slot machines, 100 table games, and a retail sportsbook.

Hard Rock Bristol ground breaking is scheduled for December 7th. Bristol was one of the four cities in Virginia that were given the opportunity to build a casino. The city registered the highest percentage of "YES" votes with 70% of its residents approving the construction of a Casino. Danville, Portsmouth, Norfolk and Richmond were the other cities to approve their casino measures.

The temporary Bristol casino has been doing well since its opening last July. It has generated $40.3 million in adjusted gaming revenue through September 30. The casino paid $7.2 million to the state and $2.4 million was split among the localities.
