It has finally happened! After two months of play following the last big jackpot win in June 2018, the Mega Moolah progressive jackpot fund crashed through the Guinness World Record amount of £13.2 million set back in 2015.

It seemed inevitable that at some point, with an increasing number of players playing the game and trying their hardest to win that massive prize, that the jackpot would soon be won. However, despite those additional spins, the progressive prize just keeps on growing, surpassing all previous records.

It was excepted that a potential world record would be on the cards if the value of the win exceeds the Guinness World Records acknowledged €17,879,645 amount won by Crewe-based Jon Heywood back in October 2015.

For this to happen the jackpot prize needed to swell to around £16 million and today that is precisely what has happened. In Euros they would win over €18 million if the jackpot was indeed won today.

If the next winner hails from the UK they will make internet gambling history by surpassing Mr Heywood's win. The winning total will need to be ratified officially by the Guinness World Records before it is officially announced but all indications are that the lucky winner will not just have an incredible, life-changing fortune, but a place in the Guinness World Records too.

This current jackpot has been only the fifth time in the history of the game that the jackpot size had grown beyond the £10 million mark and this is the first time it had ever reached anything beyond £16 million. The size of the jackpot is remarkable, considering that in 2017, the jackpot was triggered a record 13 times in the space of 12 calendar months and was also triggered at least once per month from January to April and in June 2018 too.

The Mega Moolah has not been won in two months (July or August), growing at around £100,000 per day, or around £3 million per month. This is quite staggering considering that the Mega Moolah internet-only slot is now going toe to toe with the land-based Vegas casino progressive jackpots, some which are seeded at $10 million.

As is standard practice after a massive win, the Mega Moolah jackpot resets back to the seeded amount of £1 million - if and only when the jackpot is won in British Pounds. If won in another currency the jackpot is reset to an amount after currency conversion takes place.

The Mega Moolah game has a randomly triggered jackpot, which means that the progressive jackpot can be won at any time. It can be won within a space of a few hours to weeks or even months. In some years the jackpot has triggered only a single time. Read the full article in Mega Moolah news.
