Greektown Casino-Hotel in Detroit will be renamed Hollywood Casino at Greektown on May 1. Penn National Gaming Inc., the company that operates the property, made the announcement of the name change — which is custom to regulatory approvals — this morning and also shared that the casino and hotel is welcoming other updates, including new guestrooms, dining options, and tech features.

“Becoming Hollywood Casino at Greektown will offer our guests the best of both worlds: we’re keeping all of the unique, neighborhood charm that has defined Greektown since we opened our doors, while adding several new amenities that come with being a part of Penn National’s flagship brand family,” says John Drake, general manager of Hollywood Casino at Greektown, in a press release.  “Whether you’re a regular, loyal guest or a first-time visitor, we’ll have something new and improved for you to experience and enjoy.”

As part of a $30 million renovation, the hotel recently unveiled a new lobby and, in the coming months, it will debut a complete redesign of its 400 rooms and suites. The property’s carpets, hallways, elevator vestibules, and other common areas have also recently received a refresh.

Among the new food and beverage options coming to Hollywood Casino at Greektown are Urban Cocktail and Rock Bar lounges, an upscale Dunkin’ location in the lobby, and a Detroit Taco Co. location in the Monroe Market food hall. Additionally, Prism, the property’s steakhouse, is refreshing its menu under the direction of Petro Drakopoulous, the casino and hotel’s recently appointed executive chef.

Rounding out its new offerings is $1 million in improvements to the casino’s self-park and VIP garages and a cashless/cardless feature called mywallet. Located within the casino’s mychoice rewards programs app, mywallet allows guests to add funds, collect winnings, and earn tier points through their phones. According to a press release, Hollywood Casino at Greektown will be the first casino in Michigan to offer the option.

To celebrate its rebrand, Hollywood Casino at Greektown will host special events on May 19 and May 21. The festivities will feature entertainment, refreshments, free slot play for all members of mychoice, and big giveaways that include chances to win luxury cruises, trips to Las Vegas, and a Mercedes-Benz lease.
