The New York Gaming Commission is looking for proposals of interest for up to three new casinos in the New Yorkers' area. In Maryland, the Lottery and Gaming Control Commission has given approval for sports betting licenses to two more casinos.

New York is looking for a new casino operator. The deadline for expression of interest is December 10. Two of the three licenses could go to MGM Resorts and Genting. New York City, Westchester-Rockland-Putnam counties, or Nassau-Suffolk counties in Long Island could be the location of a third casino.

Two casinos in Maryland got the green light to offer sports betting this week. Three other casinos had already gotten the same approval from the MLGCC on October 6. A dozen other retail establishments are currently awaiting approval. The five casinos with sports gambling license approval are now waiting to get an official license from Sports Wagering Application Review Commission. Retail sportsbooks will be able to launch in the state as soon as the Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Agency approves their operational requirements and internal controls. Online sportsbook might have another year before launching.
