“It’s extremely humbling,” Demartino says. “It’s going to be a lot of work moving forward, but it’s all worth it.”
Demartino is the only bartender from Nevada headed to the national finals in May, where he’ll compete against bartenders from across the country. If he advances, he’ll head to Brazil to compete for the top prize as the best bartender in the world. “Over the years, I have won seven different competitions, so I’m always trying to move forward and progress,” he says.
Demartino has worked his craft for 13 years in Vegas, constructing cocktail programs at some of the top bars in the city in addition to receiving tutelage from some of the best bartenders in the industry. He brought his wealth of knowledge and passion for bartending to Legacy Club two years ago.
“Legacy Club is absolutely amazing,” he says. “The bar team, we’re trying to go out for the best bar team in the country at the Tales of the Cocktail competition in New Orleans in July. I always tell my bar team, ‘We have to always be better than the view,’ ’cause this view at Legacy Club is gorgeous, and amazing, and we have to be better than that view.”

This is the cocktail that earned Dominick Demartino one of the top 30 spots in the USBG competition. The unique, tasty sip is a mix of gin, Lillet Rosé, Suze liqueur, Fever Tree tonic, Fever Tree grapefruit soda, Peychaud’s bitters, lemon and a bar spoon of olive juice.
