Disney Brings Family Fun to the Las Vegas Strip (No, Really)
Las Vegas tried to be a family-friendly destination in the 1990s but failed. Circus Circus caters to people forced to visit Sin City with their kids. The Las Vegas Strip has a handful of family activities like Hershey's Chocolate World at MGM Resorts International's New York New Newyork and M&M's World next to the MGM Hotel & Casino. MGM's Mandalay Bay has water park/pool complex aimed at all ages. Walt Disney has plans to take on Sin city and make it a little more Sing City.
Disney Animation Immersive Experience will open in Toronto in December and in Las Vegas in March. It's a collaboration with Lighthouse Imm immersive Studios, the producers of the blockbuster Immersion Van Gogh. The show uses synchronized wristbands that flash different colors based on what's happening in the show at any given moment. "It's the dream to bring the best of animated storytelling together with the top experts in immersive art experience," said Walt Disney Animation Studios President Clark Spencer.
Las Vegas has moved away from marketing itself as a place where adults do things they don't do while at home. Caesars Entertainment plans to make an all-ages arcade a feature at its revamped Bally's. Some Caeres' properties are 21-and-over only.
