A tribunal in London has sided with a former worker of a Crown Resorts-owned casino in Mayfair. The tribunal found the business guilty of race discrimination.

Semhar Tesfagiorgis, a former employee of Crown Resorts-owned high-roller casino in Mayfair, London, accused it of racial discrimination. Employment tribunal sided with him.

Tesfagiorgis was the victim of racial discrimination at Mayfair Casino. She won the case against the casino on Tuesday.

Tesfagiorgis worked as a dealer and inspector at Crown London Aspinalls for 13 years between 2007 and 2020. She filed a claim with the London employment tribunal last year. Tesfaggiori provided testimony for during her trial in July 2021. The tribunal found her guilty of race and sex discrimination, indirect sexdiscrimination, harassment, and victimization.

Crown Resorts has been accused of money laundering and affiliation with organized crime in Australia. The company lost its Sydney license and was unable to open its Barangaroo casino project. Last week, the Victorian state government ruled that Crown could keep its casino license in Melbourne. However, officials confirmed that they will increase supervision of Crown Melbourne for two years. Crown also settled a lawsuit from its shareholders for AU$125m (US$94m). The case is related to the arrest of 19 Crown staff members in China in 2016.
