The Circa Resort & Casino, downtown Las Vegas’ first new resort in 40 years, will debut its 3,250sqm meeting and convention space in September 2022.

The opening of the new event space will mark a next phase in Circa’s evolution since its establishment in 2020. The events space will offer organisers an upscale Las Vegas experience off the main Strip.

Derek Stevens, CEO of Circa, commented: “As meetings and conventions make their grand return to Las Vegas, we’re excited to introduce our stunning new event spaces to meet this moment. Since our opening, we have been working tirelessly to meet this next phase of growth and provide a remarkable experience for meeting planners and attendees.”

The property will offer customisable spaces for groups of up to 1,000 guests and will feature a ballroom, breakout rooms and banquet space, adjacent pre-function space and a 1,600-square-foot outdoor terrace. Outfitted to complement Circa’s mid-century, Art Deco and modern design motifs, the spaces were designed by JCJ Architecture with the original design concept from Steelman Partners.

The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) has partnered, meanwhile, with the University Medical Center of Southern Nevada (UMC) to provide a Covid-19 testing centre, located on the Las Vegas Strip. With test results expected within 16 to 24 hours, its centralised location offers convenient access to international visitors who require testing prior to leaving the destination. It also allows trade show operators to offer onsite testing for attendees.

Mason Van Houweling, CEO of UMC, commented: “As Nevada’s leader in Covid-19 testing, with more than 1.2m tests performed, UMC takes pride in partnering with the LVCVA to provide convention attendees with access to the high-quality testing services they deserve.”

UMC was selected as the testing operator following an RFP process. The centre is open on weekdays, with limited hours on Sundays and additional availability based on the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC) trade show schedule. The price is US$130 per test, which includes customised travel documentation.

Testing is offered on an appointment and walk-in basis. Visitors can schedule appointments online here.
