Suicide victims' kin allege cases are wrongly attributed to online rummy and gambling. They claim it limits the help that can be provided. The families of the victims are not getting any kind of support. Online gamblers taking life is viewed as an act of irresponsibility. This prevents organizations or individuals from providing aid to them. In many situations, the cause of suicide is not clearly understood. The victims don't receive any support from the government or organizations.

Task force was formed to prohibit online gambling and check online games. It was after the death of a minor boy while playing an online game that home minister Dr Narottam Mishra announced to come up with a draft to ban online gaming in Madhya Pradesh.

Five men were arrested yesterday at 6 pm in a raid conducted by a team from the D7 Criminal Investigation Department of the Johor Police Contingent Headquarters. They were suspected of being involved in online gambling activities operating from a 'call centre' at the Tepian Bayu Apartments on Jalan Sultanah Aminah, Marina Cove.

Cops to destroy almost 4,000 online gambling devices seized from 2007-2022. They also seized RM101,151.50 cash and 410 Yuan. The items were seized following police raids on night clubs, pubs and bars which did not have valid permits to sell liquor. ACP Mohamad Fakhruddin said his personnel would continue efforts to combat crimes, especially online betting in Petaling Jaya.

Chan Li Xian, 24, fined RM10,000 and jailed for five months. Juan, 19, from Pontianak, was sentenced to five-months in prison. They were arrested on suspicion of running an illegal online gambling activities. They had a computer set, mobile phones, a modem, sheets of paper containing online betting codes, and a keyboard.

Manjinder Virdi, 37, stole more than £200k from his charity employer to fund his online gambling habit. He was sentenced to three years in prison. Vrdi was promoted to finance officer at Poplar based charity in May 2015. The bank contacted the charity's vice president after suspicious payments were made into Vardhi's accounts. Police arrested Vurdi on May 22 and took him to an east London police station. Detectives established that Vardoi had siphoned over £100k into his own personal bank accounts over a period of 20 months.

Eight people were arrested in the 9.30pm raid on Sunday (Feb 6) in Kuala Sungai Baru. The makeshift casino offered some RM 104,000 in prizes. It was opened only last week. Several police confiscated RM104,578 in cash during the raid. 17 people aged between 25 and 67 were also arrested during Chinese New Year celebration. They are being investigated under Section 7(2) of the Open House Gambling Act 1953.

CID chief dismisses claims by illegal online gambling syndicates. Police raided 826 premises suspected to be used for illegal gambling operations. They held 1,355 people, including caretakers and gamblers, and seized 2,558 laptop computers and RM189,000 in cash. The investigation papers are in the final stage of preparation before submission to the Attorney-General’s Chambers with regard to sexual harassment claims against a preacher. It is difficult to eradicate illegal illegal betting as there is great demand from certain segments of the public.

There are five bids for the development of a Chicago casino. The most intriguing one is from Chicago real estate developer Neil Bluhm. He proposes to turn over the Lakeside Center at the east end of the McCormick Place campus to be renovated. Karnataka government passed a law banning online gambling. The gaming industry is concerned about the impact on their businesses. They want the government to define the terms 'games of chance' and 'game of skill'. The industry will challenge the law in court. The Supreme Court has ruled that games that are preponderantly based on skill are games of skills. A similar law was recently struck down in Tamil Nadu. Biren Ghose cautions that the ban could encourage illegitimate platforms to thrive. He is the chairman of CII National Committee for Animation, Visual Effects, Games and Comics.

Datuk and his wife are expected to be charged on Friday (Sept 17) over online gambling. The suspect is also accused of moneylending and electricity theft for a bitcoin mining operation. Police estimate the syndicate made at least RM52m in profits.  

Cops nab teen in illegal gambling raid. The suspect works as an online gambling seller. He has a prior criminal record under the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953. The case is being investigated under that section.

Padawan police and Syarikat Sesco Beratok, Tapah, Siburan, Mile 10, Kota Sentosa and Batu Kawa areas cut off electricity supplies to 20 premises yesterday. The premises are suspected of being involved in illegal gambling activities.

Police have busted an online gambling centre in Cheras. Eight suspects were arrested during the raid on Tuesday. 10 laptops, 18 handphones and 22 sim cards were seized. The call centre advertised their activities locally and rented the premises since April at a monthly rate of RM3,000.

Four Chinese nationals suspected of operating a call centre for online gambling and stock investment fraud in Mont Kiara were arrested yesterday. The centre was operating for the past five months and promoting online gaming to Chinese people. It was rented for RM8,000 a month and the suspects received a salary of RM6,500 per month. Police also seized nine laptops, 26 mobile phones, a modem, RM95,550 in cash and foreign currency.

Cops bust online gambling syndicate in condo raid, 11 arrested. Centre was operating for the past two months and raking in up to RM20,000 a day. It was promoting online betting to Chinese nationals. 17 laptops, 100 mobile phones, and other equipment used for gambling activities were seized in the raid.

Seventeen foreigners and permanent residents were detained for suspected involvement in illegal gambling at a house in Tungku, Kampong Mata-Mata Gadong on January 6. The individuals, aged 17 to 56, were arrested in an 11pm raid by a team from the RBPF’s Anti-Vice and Gambling Suppression Unit.
