17,000 illegal cross-border gambling breaches have been detected and addressed by Chinese law enforcement in 2021. China has been a hardliner against cross border gambling, focusing on junket operators in Macau.

Cambodia and the Philippines have complied with China's charm offensive in the region. China has conducted 80,000 arrests and shut down over 2,00 online gambling websites. The ministry received 60, 000 tips. China pointed to an increase in cases where nationals are lured away overseas to be kidnapped and ransom is demanded.

The Ministry of Public Security said China would continue to tighten restrictions on cross-border gambling. The government has successfully suspended most advertisement efforts from those same cross border gambling groups.
