President Sadyr Japarov signed a law to allow small casinos in hotels and restaurants in Kyrgyzstan. The law also legalized iGaming, which was banned since 2015.

Kyrgyzstan was once a constituent part of the Soviet Union. It gained its independence in the summer of 1991. Askar Akayev was the first President of Kyrgyzanistan. He was overthrown in 2005 and replaced by Kurmanbek Bakiyev, who lasted only five years.

Gambling ban introduced in 2012 as part of a package of policies from Kyrgyzstan's fourth President Almazbek Atambayevsome. KyrGYZstan is one of Central Asia's poorest countries despite having large deposits of precious metals and a growing tourism industry.

Gambling is legal in Kyrgyzstan. Hotel-based casinos may attract foreign tourists. KyrGYZstan is situated halfway between Russia and India.

New Kyrgyz legislation requires that the country's new casinos host a minimum of five gaming tables and at least 130 slot machines.

The first casinos could be operating in Kyrgyzstan from next summer. They are to be operated with a return to player ratio of at least 75% and abide by strict rules.
