Carnival hosted its first-ever $1 million slot tournament on Mardi Gras this week, featuring the largest slots prize ever offered on a Carnival Cruise Line ship.

100 prizes were given to players in the competition, including the top prize of $500,000 awarded to the first-place winner. An awards ceremony was held on board Thursday to conclude the week-long competition. Over 1,600 players participated, making it Carnival’s largest casino tournament to date.

“It’s fitting that the biggest casino event in our company’s history coincides with our 50th birthday. Seeing firsthand the enthusiasm for the $1M Slot Tournament from our guests, I’m looking forward to us building on this with similar events,” said Jonathan Lask, Carnival’s vice president of casino and performance marketing.

Continuing the fun of this tournament, Carnival is now planning more, including two additional million-dollar competitions over the next two years. In 2023, the $1 million slot tournament will take place on Carnival Celebration‘s October 29th cruise from Miami. The tournament will then return the following spring and be held on the next ship in the Excel-class — Carnival Jubilee. That sailing will depart on May 18, 2024 from Galveston, Texas.

Guests can reserve a seat at the upcoming tournaments by booking the sailings with a Carnival Players Club offer or with a new open access offer.
