CHENNAI: DMK on Saturday indirectly blamed governor R N Ravi for all the suicides related to online gambling in the state by saying that governor was purposefully delaying the Bill to ban online gambling just to drag time.
DMK, through an editorial in Murasoli, said the Union government had clarified that the state governments had power to enact Bill to ban online gambling. “Last week, Union minister for information and broadcasting Anurag Thakur informed the Parliament that the state governments have power to enact legislation to ban online gambling. Since betting and gambling are included in Entry 34 of the state list in the Indian Constitution, only the state governments have powers to enact the legislation to ban online gambling,” said the article.
