Plaza has announced a ban on smoking in its casinos. The report claims that it does not affect gaming revenue. It also takes aim at a report commissioned by New Jersey's casinos in February. New York, New England and Pennsylvania have already banned smoking. Las Vegas is the only place where it is legal. The main casino workers' union is threatening a strike in July. If new contracts are not reached, the union will walk out. In New Mexico, smoking is allowed on up to 25 percent of the casino floor. There are four casinos that offer smoking: Parx Casino in Philadelphia, Empire City in Yonkers, and Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun in Connecticut.

On Tuesday, the Clark Board of Commissioners voted to require employers to wear them. There is no return yet to the widespread masking mandate that was lifted in May. The commissioners plan to revisit the topic on August 17. They can't afford to have major conventions choose to go elsewhere.

The off-Strip property opened on March 25. It was originally planned to open in the fall after a $200 million renovation of the former Hard Rock Hotel. The opening was delayed twice. Now Las Nevada is starting to show significant signs of recovery. Caesars Entertainment Inc. and MGM Resorts International revealed that bookings were increasing. Casino floor operators can operate at 50% capacity for the first time in months.
