Bristol's Gambling research centre has opened. It is funded by the charity GambleAware. The centre will focus on the negative effects of gambling. 50,000 children aged 11-16 are in gambling rehab. The rise of online gambling has made it worse. University has a record of researching gambling issues. Its aim is to attract the best international researchers. They will work with the Bristol Digital Futures Institute, the Bristol Poverty Institute and the Population Health Science Institute. There will be interdisciplinary research from six facilities. This will include personal finance, psychology, economic and human geography, and social inequalities.
