Bad beat good for $86,000-plus

And there it goes: That
big burly Microgaming Poker Network Bad Beat Jackpot – good for an individual payout of exactly $86,475.23 (approximately €55,171.77 / £43,444.23) – was taken Tuesday night by an unnamed player. The winner of the hand took $43,237.61, while the four to five players also in on the big beat hand split another $43,237.61.
Even better, the loser/winner and his tablemates were playing for stakes of just $.50/$1 at the time. Nice.
At a little bit over $247,000 (€157,500 / £124,000), the Microgaming Bad Beat Jackpot topped its previous peak by some 35%.
Today, the jackpot stands at a “mere” $50,000 or so – impressive enough to be sure, but one wonders how long before the quarter-million mark is achieved again...
