New York, NY (January 11, 2007) – Roger Federer and Tiger Woods have dominated their respective sports for years now and both seem to be at their peak. In 2006 Federer won three of four majors and Woods won two of four. Together these two fast friends have won a total of five majors, and it would appear that the sky is the limit for both now. Sportsbook.com, the world’s largest online sportsbook and casino, has posted odds on the combined total of majors the two superstars will win in 2007.
This year the betting is 5-2 for three possible outcomes: that Woods and Federer together will win either 3, or 4, or 5 majors. The chances of the two each sweeping all four majors in their respective sports are slimmer with 100-1 odds.
Federer is coming off one of the best seasons of his career and is showing no signs of slowing down. In 2006, Federer lost only five of his ninety-two matches and also became the first man to win 10 or more singles in three consecutive years. Odds makers have listed Federer as a 5-1 bet to sweep the Grand Slam tournaments in 2007 and 3-2 bet to win three Grand Slams for the second consecutive year.
After losing his father to cancer and missing the cut at the U.S. Open for the first time in a major, Tiger Woods made an incredible comeback and put together one of his best years on the PGA Tour. Woods’ two majors in 2006 only complimented his six consecutive tournament wins to close out the season. Despite last year’s magic, Woods is only expected to pull off one major with top odds of 3-2, and he is a 15-1 bet to win all four majors in 2007.
