How huge? A nice round total of $818,403.30 (approximately £419,262.50 / €533,013) before taxes. The game was King Cashalot and John C.’s reported playing time on the lucky evening was just over 30 minutes.

As for a quote from Mr. C., well, none is available at present. According to Jupiter Club company spokesman Sonia Bradshaw, “When we phoned John to congratulate him he was, literally… so speechless, in fact, we’ve not been able to get an interview with him ... yet.”

With his newfound winnings, however, surely John C. will be silver-tongued by the time a prospective interviewer calls again...
