"There's no place like Rome" proclaims the slogan atop 5-reel 15-payline Morpheus Dream, but LCD has to admit we were expecting something a bit more Neil Gaimanesque... Instead of Gaiman’s fantastical trip through the dreamscape of graphic novels, instead we’ve got another classical-era motif. The music is some crazy generic Mediterranean-sounding stuff over various motifs of the ancient world: coins, pottery, olives, seashells, and an angular-looking "10" (Begging the obvious question, “Why not a styley "X" as in the Roman Age?) The sand biege-colored frame-within-frame against blue sky background reminded LCD a bit of King Tut’s Treasure, a Real Time Gaming product offered earlier this year. Unfortunately, Morpheus king of dreamland has snuck in around the edges of this game, which could certainly do with more paylines. And how come, incidentally, Top Game hasn't produced a video round in any of its games to date? All in all, Morpheus Dream is a nice getaway, but you probably wouldn’t want to live there... LCD rating: 5 Zs.
