Face Up 21 – Blackjack variant at online casinos – Dealer hits on soft 17

At first, it seems so simple: Face Up 21 is blackjack but with both the dealer’s cards showing. Other traditional elements of online blackjack play are still here in splits, double downs and the like, but imagine the weirdness of hitting a 19 because the dealer shows two face cards...

How to play Face Up 21

As the name indicates, Face Up 21 is a variant of blackjack in which the dealer’s cards are all played face up. With the skill level thereby taken down a notch, payout rules have been adjusted accordingly. Blackjack pays 1:1 in Face Up 21 and the dealer wins on all tie results except in the case of blackjack, for which the player is paid instantly.

The player may play up to three hands at once. The deal begins when the player has anted to his/her heart’s content and happens in the traditional fashion. After receiving two cards, the player can choose to double down, split, stand or hit. While this plays out the same, it sure is bizarre to keep hitting on, say, a 19 when the dealer’s 20 is staring you in the face.
