Playtech acquires Gaming Technology Solutions

GTS generated £2.6 million and pre-tax profits of £300,000.  The buyout cost Playtech up to €32.4 million and will provide more choices for online bingo, sports betting and games to its business partners and ultimately, will result in greater revenues for Playtech

The GTS Enhanced Gaming Engine (EdGE) is reported to be the only “truly open games platform available that provides a flexible solution to maximize player spend and game revenue whilst minimizing operational costs.”  Currently this EdGE software offers hundreds of new games created by world-class game developers.  Once installed, the games offer content that crosses multiple languages, currencies and domains from Chinese, Japanese, and Korean to all European languages as well.

Playtech CEO Mor Weizer has stated that GTS “will enable us to work with a true open platform and integrate new games seamlessly.  We have been looking to enhance our open content capabilities, and in effect become an aggregator of quality gaming content.”  GTS solutions are useable globally and will make it easy for Playtech to move into newly regulated online betting markets much more easily.

Playtech has been a pioneer in coming up with ideas to move into new sectors of online gambling like with their mobile solutions, live dealer betting and beginning stages of moving into the Asian betting market.  Earlier this year, Playtech also acquired the sports technology company, Player2Players, and along with that is currently developing another software platform to bring to market in the near future. Playtech is currently focusing on popular online tournament-style games like gin rummy and backgammon, games that are hot with the largest European online sports betting companies.  One thing’s for sure: Playtech isn’t parked on the porch these days, but continues to run with the big dogs for the lead.
