Based in Ireland, the Laser card was founded by Laser Card Services Ltd. in 1996. Prime among the perks of the debit card was the offer to receive up to 100 euros cashback with sufficient purchases.

In 2008, the Laser card was tied in with the Maestro brand name and since then has fallen somewhat out of favor with banks; today only Allied Irish Banks still issues the Laser.
